Our Crew
Scott Johnson
Scott Johnson is founder and owner of Stowaway Recording. After landing in OKC in 2015, he decided to try to fulfill his lifelong dream of recording music at a professional level. A drummer (and sometime saxophonist) from an early age, he loves facilitating artists’ creative work through collaboration. Stowaway follows its original mantra of “faders, knobs, and buttons”, i.e. as much analog as possible, while also taking advantage of the latest software and tech. His fascination with analog electronica has translated into an ever-growing collection of synths, pedals, and effects — the weirder the better! Scott has worked with Beau Jennings and the Tigers, Ester Drang, Doug Burr, Husbands, Josh Hogsett (Buzz Cut), Tallows, Costello, and several other artists. By training a scholar of literature, he has a passion for hearing the sound in artists’ imaginations and capturing it with dynamic recordings.
Dustin Ragland
Dustin Ragland is an instrumentalist and engineer based in Oklahoma City, working in the borderlands of music technology, education, and performance. Dustin was a touring and studio drummer for Charlie Hall from 2003–2014, performing in venues from the Ryman Auditorium to the Beacon Theatre, in cities as varied as Stockholm and Kampala. He is currently a drummer with Beau Jennings and the Tigers, and performs his own music as Young Weather. As an engineer, Ragland has worked with songwriters to put a complete musical vision around their work, and with bands to help refine and capture the unique sounds that define them. Ragland is comfortable working with experimental electronics and natural acoustic elements, and loves to bring those worlds together in the studio environment, where he has been making records since 2004.
